10 Things Movers Should Have Before Marketing to Realtors
10 Things Movers Should Have Before Marketing to Realtors
Realtor marketing can put your moving company in front of a lot of potential referral partners.
But before you start reaching out, make sure your company is ready for the attention.
Because when a Realtor becomes interested, one of the first things they may do is look you up.
Here are 10 things worth having in place before you start actively marketing to Realtors.
1. A Strong Online Reputation
Your reviews matter.
A Realtor recommending your company is putting some of their own reputation behind that recommendation.
If they search your business and find poor reviews, very few reviews, or recent complaints, that can create hesitation immediately.
You do not need a perfect online reputation.
You do need one that makes a Realtor feel comfortable taking the next step.

2. A Professional Website
Your website does not need to be complicated.
It should simply make your company look legitimate and professional.
A Realtor should be able to quickly understand:
- Who you are
- Where you operate
- What services you provide
- How to contact you
An outdated or confusing website can create unnecessary doubt.
3. An Updated Google Business Profile
There is a good chance a Realtor will Google your company before replying or making a recommendation.
Make sure the information they find is accurate.
Your phone number, website, hours, service information, photos, and other business details should all reflect the company you operate today.
4. Clear Service Areas
A Realtor should not have to guess whether you can help their client.
Make it easy to understand where you operate and the types of moves you handle.
If an agent is unsure whether you serve a particular area, it becomes easier to recommend someone else.
5. A Clear Reason Someone Should Recommend You
Every moving company says they provide great service.
That alone does not make you memorable.
You should have a clear understanding of why someone would feel confident recommending your company instead of another mover in the market.
It might be your reputation, communication, customer experience, specialty, coverage, or another strength of the business.
You do not need a complicated sales pitch.
You need a clear reason to be remembered.

6. Someone Ready to Respond
This is easy to overlook.
You spend time getting your company in front of Realtors.
One finally replies.
Then the message sits unanswered.
That is a wasted opportunity.
If you are actively reaching out, someone needs to be paying attention when conversations begin.
Fast, professional communication matters.
7. A Good Customer Experience
Marketing can generate the introduction.
Your operation has to protect the relationship.
If a Realtor sends you a client and that client has a terrible experience, there is a good chance the Realtor will not make the same recommendation again.
Your sales team, movers, communication, and customer service all become part of your Realtor marketing once referrals start happening.
8. The Right Realtors to Reach
Having a huge list of licensed agents is not the same thing as having a good audience.
Some Realtors are actively working with buyers and sellers.
Others may barely be doing business.
Reaching more Realtors can be valuable, but the quality of those Realtors matters too.
The goal is not simply to collect the biggest list possible.
It is to get your company in front of enough of the right agents to create opportunities.

9. The Right Expectations
Realtor marketing is partly a numbers game.
Not every Realtor will respond.
Not every conversation will become a referral.
And not every agent will have a client who needs a mover when you first reach them.
That is normal.
You do not need every Realtor in your market to become a referral source.
You need enough of the right Realtors to know your company for good opportunities to start developing.
That is also why repeatedly hammering the same small list of agents is not the answer.

10. A Networking Mindset
This might be the most important one.
Do not approach Realtors like a list of homeowner leads.
They are other business professionals.
If your entire approach is:
“Here is our moving company. Please send us customers.”
you are starting the relationship from the wrong place.
The goal should be to start genuine conversations with people who regularly work with the same homeowners your company serves.

You Do Not Need to Be Perfect Before You Start
This list is not meant to convince moving companies to wait forever before marketing to Realtors.
Quite the opposite.
There may be hundreds or thousands of agents in your market that still do not know your company exists.
But getting more exposure works much better when the company behind that exposure is ready for it.
Make sure Realtors can find you.
Make sure they like what they find.
Make sure someone responds when they engage.
Then start getting your company in front of more of the right people.
